Press Release:
Swimming Pool Project Space is proud to present 24-Hour Embrace,
an exhibition that includes performance and installation by Young
Sun Han.
The exhibition will run from December 30th to January 31st..
Opening on December 30th, Young Sun Han will start his performance
called “24 Hour Embrace” where he will embrace a stranger
for 24 consecutive hours. The gallery doors will open at 11:30pm
and he will begin the embrace at the stroke of midnight. The gallery
will then remain open to the public throughout the entire performance
(28 hours straight) through New Year’s Eve and into New
Year’s Day.
The “24-hour Embrace” will conclude precisely at the
stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. However, the gallery
will stay open to continue the New Year’s celebration with
dancing next door to the Swimming Pool (larger space, 2860 W.
Montrose)!
Along side of Young Sun Han’s performance will be Young
Sun Han’s “Chimera”, a projected red ghost that
hovers as an apparition on the wall.
Young Sun Han is originally from Chicago but currently lives and
works in Auckland, New Zealand. His work explores identity, history,
and memory through projected fantasies and alter egos based on
the known and unknown.
Please come dance the night away, celebrate the New Year with
us, enjoy a chilled Grolsch swing top beer, and view an embrace
of vitality.
