Dogcat Press Release: Caught between a performance and a spectacle, 9 dogs will don 9 artist's imaginings. Outfitted more with objects of art then fashion, the animals will break the rules of what a gallery is supposed to be confined by. The exhibition will playfully instigate an intermingling of dog and cat, where anything can happen. Artist's such as, Brian Getnick, Susan Smolinski, Young Joon Kwok, Carl Warnick & Dawn Reed, and others will shape their canine with a vision beyond the runway. The small space will contain many opposing elements, including the hope of dog etiquette next to artwork containing cat inspired subject matter. Feline Behavioral Institute (FBI), organized by Eric Brown, is the gallery exhibit and a stagnant reminder of the pretension of feline behavior. Be it a video water dish or grassy paintings inconveniently hung high. Additionally, there will be a traditional "Maneki Neko" prominently displayed inviting fortune and prosperity to any business fabricated by one of the Gallery's own Directors. Addressing the gallery walls are artists such as May's MCA 12x12 artist, Edra Soto, E.C. Brown, Catie Olson, Jon Bollo and Liz Nielsen. FBI will be on display through August 9th. Outfitting the dogs are artists: Brian Getnick, Young Joon Kwak, Carolyna Wheat, Susan Smolinski, André van de Putte, Erin LaRocque and Angela Yonke, Sam Bryer, Holly Mathews, Katie Fitzgerald, Casey Ann Wasniewski, and Carl Warnick and Dawn Reed Dog Models: Tula, Ms. Tina, Vincent, Isaac, Levi, Molly, Stella, Lola On the evening of the opening only, promptly at 9pm, the canine models will walk an absurdly short dog catwalk from the front door of the gallery to the back door of the gallery. |
